Up to 9 is under continuous development, and much of what gets built comes straight from player suggestions. Here are the updates, newest first — the same list the Discord server gets its announcements from.
Version v0.2.70
Block, report — and full control of your account
- Tap a username in the chat to block or report that player. Blocking someone hides their messages from you, and the two of you can't send each other friend requests — unblock any time from your account page.
- Reports go to moderation together with the user's messages from the game, so we can act on behaviour that breaks the terms.
- You can now delete your account yourself: tap your @username and choose "Delete account". Deletion is permanent and confirmed with your password.
Version v0.2.69
The foundation for the Android app is in place
- Up to 9 is on its way to Google Play as a proper app! This update lays the technical groundwork on the server so the app can play against upto9.no.
- Nothing changes in the game itself — but stay tuned: the test version of the app is coming soon, and we'll need volunteer testers from the Discord server.
Version v0.2.68
The website got proper content pages
- New pages on upto9.no: the complete game rules, a beginner's guide, strategy tips, an FAQ and a news page — in both Norwegian and English. The links are at the bottom of the front page.
- This news list is now also published at upto9.no/en/news — the same content as the announcements here.
- The privacy policy has been updated with information about ads on the website.
Version v0.2.67
Failsafe: impossible rounds now end themselves
- Cards laid down on the table are out of circulation — in rare cases that can make it impossible for every waiting player to lay down (the cards they need are all used up). The game now detects this and ends the round automatically instead of letting it run forever.
- Players who had already laid down advance a level as usual; everyone takes penalty points for their remaining cards, and a message explains that the round became impossible.
Version v0.2.66
Better mobile view + self-dismissing errors
- On mobile the draw and discard piles now sit at the bottom of the table — clear of opponents' laid-down cards, and easier to reach with your thumb.
- Your own laid-down cards now show next to your hand on mobile, instead of in the middle of the table.
- Error messages (e.g. when a card can't go there) now disappear on their own after a few seconds.
- Turn your phone to landscape and you'll get a friendly nudge to rotate back to portrait.
Version v0.2.65
Name frames got their own colours
- Every name frame now colours the disc behind your initial too — silver coin, sapphire blue, ruby red, rainbow prism and the rest — not just the ring around it.
Version v0.2.64
The shop fills up: 40 skins with rarity tiers ✨
- 25 card backs and 15 name frames — from Starry night, Ocean waves and Sunset to Galaxy, Dragon scales and living Northern lights/Hologram.
- Every skin now has a rarity tier: Common, Uncommon, Rare, Epic, Legendary and Mythic.
- Many more achievements now carry rewards — for example Ocean waves for 50 games, Northern lights for 500 games and the mythic Prism frame for 100 wins.
- Real-money purchases are still off — but every achievement skin can be unlocked already.
Version v0.2.63
Achievements and a skin shop 🏆🛍️
- New: achievements! Milestones for games, wins, points, going out first and clean laydowns — press “🏆 Achievements” in the menu to see your progress.
- Some achievements carry rewards: new card backs and name frames everyone at the table can see.
- New “🛍️ Shop” with card backs and name frames. Everything is purely cosmetic — no advantage in play.
- Real-money purchases are NOT enabled yet — prices show, but the button says “Coming soon”. The achievement skins can be unlocked already.
- The stock pile shows your card back, and every seat shows that opponent's card back and frame.
Version v0.2.62
News in two languages on Discord
- The version announcements on Discord now show “What's new” in Norwegian and English side by side, instead of just a link to the website.
Version v0.2.61
Small fix
- /stats in Discord no longer cares about upper/lower case in usernames.
Version v0.2.60
Up to 9 in English! 🌐
- The whole game is now available in English — switch language under ⚙ Settings. The choice follows your account.
- Existing players keep Norwegian; new players get English by default.
- Bot comments, error messages and emails come in your language.
- The filter against inappropriate names now covers more languages.
Version v0.2.58
Discord bot
- The Discord server has its own bot: it keeps the ranking up to date in its own channel, answers /rangering and /stats, and lets you know when a new version is out.
Version v0.2.57
More mobile improvements
- The game ID in the waiting room now fits even the smallest phone screens.
- Enter now also submits the “New game”, “Join a game” and “Add friend” fields.
- The game-name field stops at 40 characters — the limit names were trimmed to anyway.
- Installed as an app on iPhone, the content now stays clear of the camera notch and the home indicator.
Version v0.2.56
Mobile fixes
- The game list on the front page stays within the screen — long game names are shortened with “…”, and each row wraps neatly onto two lines.
- The Enter/“go” key on the keyboard now submits the login, registration and password forms.
- The scoreboard no longer hides behind the player icons on the table.
- The admin menu opens within the screen edge on mobile.
- Players at the top of the table no longer collide with the menu buttons in full games on mobile.
Version v0.2.55
Join our Discord!
- New “💬 Discord” button in the front-page menu — join our server to find other players, suggest improvements and hear about new versions.
Version v0.2.54
Change password & new top bar
- Tap your @username at the top to open your account and change your password.
- The front page has a tidier top: title and account buttons up top, the menu on its own row below.
Version v0.2.53
Tidier menu on narrow screens
- The menu buttons wrap onto two rows when space gets tight, instead of squeezing the title and game name across several lines.
- Long game names are shortened with “…” instead of breaking up the top of the game.
Version v0.2.52
Smoother “📖 Read”
- All tutorial pages are now the same height, so the “Next” button stays put as you flip through.
Version v0.2.51
Shorter “What's new”
- This list no longer takes over the whole front page — press “See more ▾” for the full history.
Version v0.2.50
Calmer, smoother feel
- Clicking around the menus no longer replays the “loading” animation — the background stays put.
- Flipping through “📖 Read” no longer refreshes everything in the background for every page.
